Salons Education Director

Job Purpose and Scope

The Education Director and Regional Manager (EDRM) will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging and effective learning experiences for Dillard’s Salon Professionals to provide a point of difference service to our guests. This role will oversee the evaluation and improvement of Dillard’s training curriculum and methods. Preferred candidates should be passionate about education, sales, and leadership, and driven to make a difference in Dillard’s organization and industry.

Experience as a Cosmetologist is required to aid in the comprehensive understanding of Dillard’s products, services, and target market, as well as the challenges and opportunities that Dillard’s Salon Professionals face. Acting as a critical bridge between individual stores and corporate management, the EDRM models the high standards of professionalism and brand excellence expected of their entire team.

Essential Job Functions

● Design, launch, and update training programs for salons, creating new content and refreshing existing materials. Develop trend and product knowledge modules on the Learner Mobile platform to keep it engaging and valuable for team growth.

● Consistently innovate new ways to educate and communicate with stores, utilizing both in person and virtual facilitation at an exceptional level.

● Analyze performance analytics to identify stores in need of additional support and tailor training interventions accordingly.

● Demonstrate strong business acumen, advanced Excel skills, and creative design abilities to develop impactful and visually appealing training resources.

● Embrace a growth mindset—fail fast, learn fast, and take calculated risks to drive innovation in education.

● Partner with vendors to deliver high-quality training to stylists and meet company expectations.

● Travel as needed to understand the communication and learning challenges faced by stylists, adapting programs to support their success and enhance customer service.

● Work in partnership with the Salon Sales Director to identify practical training needs and emerging trends or patterns in stores.

● Maintain and oversee all certification programs for Salons.

● Demonstrate flexibility in working hours, including extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines and maintain momentum.

● Serve as a visionary for the education function, proactively anticipating and addressing the evolving needs of the business and its teams.

● Maintain clear communication with salon and store managers to guide business operations.

● Staying current on new products, tools, techniques & trends

● Willing to offer technical support to stylists when someone is in their chair or coming in and needs help with their type of hair, etc.

● Developing service systems: consultations, guest care procedures, and home care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

● Experience creating digital and in-person training programs.

● Familiar with adult learning principles and learning technologies (e-learning tools like Learner Mobile and Canva for training design, excel and creative design.

● Experience writing educational content, scripts, and building out training materials, using strong writing skills.

● Growth mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous learning.

● Analytical mindset to measure training impact.

● Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
