Payroll Coordinator

Job Summary: This part-time position is responsible for all functions related to the accurate and timely processing of SSG's payroll in a multi-state environment. Success in this role requires experience with third-party payroll software, exceptional attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and a passion for process improvement. Process bi-weekly payroll, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, taxes, and other deductions while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll matters, answering questions, and providing guidance on payroll policies and procedures.Maintain and administer the company's third-party payroll system in partnership with Human Resources, ensuring updates are completed to maintain compliance and support HR best practices.Configure and maintain payroll mapping for personnel expenses and payroll liabilities to the general ledger.Reconcile payroll-related expenses and liability accounts to the general ledger on a bi-weekly basis.Prepare monthly payroll accruals for financial reporting.Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports, including earnings, taxes, deductions, leave balances, disability, and non-taxable wages.Partner with third-party payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, tax filings, reporting, and settlements.Collaborate with internal departments and payroll providers to resolve issues and identify opportunities for process improvements.Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and year-end adjustments.Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance and advising management on required changes.Partner with Sales, Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to ensure payroll consistency and accuracy.Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll and compensation information.Support management with special projects, reporting, and payroll analysis as needed.Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll.Perform other accounting responsibilities as assigned, including posting health insurance and other payroll-related benefit expenses.Requires an average of 30 hours of dedicated work per week to meet the essential functions of the role. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.Thorough understanding of federal, state, local, and FICA payroll tax laws and regulations.Strong communication and organizational skills are important.
