Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Hairstylist/Barber role based at Impressions Hair Studio in Ellicott City, MD. The Hairstylist/Barber will provide a range of hair services, including cuts, styling, blowouts, barbering services, and basic treatments, while consulting with clients to understand their desired look and offering professional recommendations. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing appointment schedules, maintaining a clean and sanitized workstation, following health and safety standards, and ensuring a positive experience for every client. The role also involves recommending appropriate products, supporting retail sales, and collaborating with the team to uphold the studio’s service standards. Participation in occasional training sessions, team meetings, and promotional events to stay current with trends and techniques is expected.

Qualifications

Valid state cosmetology or barber license (Maryland) and proven experience as a hairstylist and/or barber in a salon or barbershop setting.Proficiency in hair cutting and styling techniques for diverse hair types and textures, including classic and contemporary styles.Strong client consultation and customer service skills, with the ability to listen, provide recommendations, and build long-term client relationships.Knowledge of basic hair treatments and product usage, with the ability to advise clients on home care and appropriate retail products.Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation, adhering to all sanitation and safety regulations.Reliable time management skills, including punctuality for scheduled shifts and appointments and effective handling of walk-in clients when applicable.Comfort working in a team-oriented salon environment, with a professional attitude and respectful communication style.Willingness to participate in ongoing training, stay current with trends, and learn new techniques and services as needed.Weekend and evening availability as required by salon operating hours.
