Diaspora Salon’s work is rooted in the preservation and continuance of Diasporic cultures and heritages outside of Africa through hairdressing. The team celebrates ancestry and identity by thoughtfully adorning curly and coily natural hair, honoring it as a crown and a source of pride for each client. Daily tasks include learning and practicing cutting, styling, and treatment techniques, maintaining a clean and organized salon environment, and supporting smooth appointment flow. Foundational skills in hair styling and hair care, with a strong interest in naturally curly and coily hair.Basic knowledge of cosmetology principles; enrollment in or completion of a cosmetology program is preferred.Strong customer Service skills, with a client-centered approach and a respectful, inclusive demeanor.Effective communication skills, including active listening and clear, professional interaction with clients and team members.Willingness to learn and take feedback, with attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on work in a fast-paced salon environment.Interest in diasporic cultures, natural hair, and holistic, plant-based hair care products.
