Hair Stylist Assistant

Salon Assistant – Greenwich Village

Matono Salon is looking for a reliable, motivated Salon Assistant to join our team in Greenwich Village.

We are a casual, high-end salon focused on excellent hair design, healthy hair, and thoughtful client care. We are looking for someone who is professional, positive, dependable, and interested in growing in the hair industry.

Responsibilities

Welcome clients and help create a warm, professional salon experience
Shampoo, condition, and rinse clients thoroughly
Apply hair treatments and assist with head massage services
Assist stylists during haircut, color, and treatment services
Prepare clients and stations for services
Sweep and clean stations throughout the day
Keep shampoo areas, work areas, and common spaces clean and organized
Wash, sanitize, and organize tools, bowls, brushes, towels, and equipment
Help with laundry and general salon upkeep
Restock products and supplies as needed
Support all stylists fairly and professionally
Communicate respectfully with stylists, receptionists, clients, and other team members
Help maintain Matono Salon's standards of cleanliness, hospitality, and client care

Attention to detail and cleanliness
Comfortable working in a busy salon environment
Interested in hair, fashion, beauty, and continued learning
Able to stand for extended periods
Previous salon experience is preferred but not required
New York State cosmetology license or cosmetology school experience is a plus
