Hair Stylist Assistant

Soho Hair Group & Day Spa is seeking a highly organized, friendly, and multitasking individual to join our team as a assistant hair stylist. This is perfect for newly licensed stylist or soon to be licensed stylist who we will train to learn the workings of our salon and train to become a top stylist with our team. You will train assisting our Master Stylists until ready to take your own clients as well as supporting out front desk coordinators. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, a positive attitude, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks—from assisting stylists with color take downs, blow drying , shampoos and assisting with front desk responsibilities. Meevo experience a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Salon Assistant Duties:

Assist stylists with blow-drying, styling, and shampooing clients’ hair.
Perform light cleaning duties, including sweeping.
Help with laundry duties, including washing and folding towels and capes.
Greet clients and provide an excellent, friendly salon experience.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of salon equipment and workstations.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth salon operations.
Greet and assist clients as they arrive, ensuring a positive first impression.
Manage phone calls, address inquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
Handle cash transactions, operate the cash register, and process payments.
Utilize POS systems to manage inventory, process sales, and track customer preferences.
Upsell products and services to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.
Maintain an organized, tidy front desk area and ensure materials are well-stocked.
Collaborate with the Salon Manager to ensure that both staff and client needs are met.

Experience & Qualifications:

Previous experience in the hair industry, either in school or already licensed.
Previous customer service or retail experience is an asset.
Familiarity with POS systems (experience with Meevo is a plus).
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and handle various responsibilities.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent phone etiquette.
Proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
A positive, friendly attitude with the ability to work well within a team.
