Looking for 1 Hair Stylist Assistant / Second Stylist, you'll support two successful senior stylists in a high- end boutique type salon - while developing advanced technical skills with cutting, styling and hair extensions. This role is designed for a licensed stylist seeking hands-on, one-on-one mentorship and a clear path toward becoming a successful, independent stylist with a higher end clientele

Role Description

The HAIR ASSISTANT / SECOND STYLIST is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, supporting lead stylists and ensuring a smooth, professional client experience. Day-to-day tasks include preparing stations and tools, shampooing, assisting with blow-drying and basic styling, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the salon. The HAIR ASSISTANT / SECOND STYLIST will help manage client flow, greet clients, support appointment transitions, and uphold salon standards for hygiene, safety, and customer service. As skills progress, the individual may perform more independent services under salon direction and participate in ongoing training and education

Qualifications

Foundational hair care and styling skills, including shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying, and basic finishing techniquesGood time management, reliability, and comfort working in a fast-paced, appointment-driven environmentent

Understanding of salon hygiene, sanitation practices, and safe use of tools and productsStrong client service and communication skills, with a professional, respectful, and welcoming approachAbility to follow directions, support lead stylists efficiently, and work well as part of a collaborative teamInterest in ongoing education, learning advanced techniques, and building a long-term career in the hair industryRelevant cosmetology training or licensure in Illinois Previous salon, spa, or customer-facing experience is beneficial but not required
