Director of Operations - Supercuts & Cost Cutters Salons

About us

Cutters, Inc. is a family-owned salon company that has run Supercuts and Cost Cutters salons for about 30 years. We operate 16 salons in Missouri, Illinois and Florida with about 100 stylists and managers, and more salons are on the way. We are based in Springfield, MO.

The job

You will run day-to-day operations for all of our salons and lead our general managers and salon managers. Your first job is growing guest counts at the salons we already have. Your second is keeping every salon staffed with great stylists. You will work side by side with the owner, who sets the plan with you at first, and you will take over more of the planning as you grow into the role. We want your ideas, not just someone to carry out ours. This is not a behind-the-chair role.

What you will do

Grow guest counts store by store: first visits that turn into regulars, rebooking, reviews and local marketing
Own recruiting: run the hiring pipeline, interview and hire stylists, and keep every salon staffed
Approve schedules that match traffic and keep labor on target
Develop our general managers and salon managers into stronger operators with a weekly rhythm of goals, follow-up and results
Visit every salon regularly and hold managers accountable
Work with our trainers to train stylists on speed, consultation and the guest experience
Use the numbers. Daily sales, weekly labor, guest counts and stylist scorecards already come to you automatically. Your job is to turn them into action.
Bring new salons onto our systems as we grow

What we are looking for

3+ years leading multiple locations
Experience with an hourly or commission workforce: salons, restaurants, retail, fitness or similar
A record of growing traffic or sales. Be ready to tell us the numbers.
You have hired in a tough labor market and kept people
Comfortable with P&Ls, schedules and Excel
You lead by example and by coaching, not by title
You live in or will relocate to Springfield, MO or Columbia, MO
Able to travel 25–35% of the time to Missouri, Illinois and Florida, with overnights. Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
Salon experience or a cosmetology license is a big plus

Pay and benefits

Salary: $65,000–$75,000, based on experience
Bonus: up to $15,000 a year. It pays quarterly on guest growth and labor goals, and annually on company profit growth.
