We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and personable Assistant Hospitality Manager Intern to join our salon team. This unpaid internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate students who are seeking college credit or practical experience related to hospitality, business management, salon/spa management, customer service, communications, or a related field.

The ideal candidate is organized, professional, friendly, comfortable interacting with clients and beauty professionals, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming salon environment.

This internship provides hands-on experience in hospitality operations, customer service, facility organization, client relations, and day-to-day salon management.

Schedule & Commitment

Minimum: 12 hours per week
Maximum: 20 hours per week
Schedule to be coordinated around the student's academic requirements and the salon's operating needs.
The intern will be expected to open the salon at 8:00 AM on scheduled opening shifts.
This is an unpaid internship intended to satisfy approved academic/college credit requirements, subject to the student's school requirements and applicable internship policies.

Key ResponsibilitiesSalon Opening & Daily Operations

Arrive on time and open the salon at 8:00 AM.
Turn on salon lights and ensure the space is ready for the day.
Walk through the salon to make sure common areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
Check bathrooms and other shared areas at the beginning of the day and throughout the shift.
Help ensure the salon maintains a welcoming, professional atmosphere for clients and beauty professionals.

Cleanliness & Organization

Keep common areas clean, neat, and organized.
Clean and maintain bathrooms throughout the day.
Clean toilets and bathroom surfaces as needed.
Wipe down commonly used surfaces and keep shared areas presentable.
Keep salon sinks clean and tidy.
Refill soap dispensers when needed.
Replenish toilet paper, paper towels, and other necessary supplies.
Monitor inventory of basic hospitality and restroom supplies and notify management when supplies are running low.
Help maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the salon.

Client Hospitality & Customer Service

Greet prospective and existing clients in a friendly and professional manner.
Assist prospective clients with general salon information.
Determine the client's needs and appropriately refer them to the available stylist or salon professional.
Provide prospective clients with information about salon services and direct them to the appropriate stylist.
Help create a positive first impression for anyone entering the salon.
Answer basic questions and direct clients to the appropriate team member when additional assistance is needed.
Maintain a professional, welcoming, and helpful presence in the salon.

Stylist & Suite Rental Support

Assist prospective stylists or beauty professionals who are interested in renting a salon suite.
Provide basic information regarding available suites and the salon environment.
Refer interested professionals to the appropriate manager for detailed questions, pricing, agreements, or leasing information.
Help maintain a professional and welcoming environment for current salon professionals.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
Be seeking or eligible to receive college/academic credit for an internship.
Have an interest in hospitality, business, management, customer service, communications, beauty/salon operations, or a related field.
Be reliable, punctual, and responsible.
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Be comfortable interacting with clients and professionals.
Have strong attention to detail.
Be organized and able to work independently.
Take initiative and notice tasks that need to be completed without constant supervision.
Present themselves in a professional and friendly manner.
Be comfortable performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties, including restroom cleaning.

Physical & Workplace Expectations

Because this is a hands-on hospitality and operations position, the intern should be comfortable with:

Standing and walking for portions of the shift.

Cleaning and maintaining restroom facilities.
Restocking supplies.
Maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Academic Credit

Students interested in this position should confirm with their college or university that the internship meets their program's requirements for academic credit. The student is responsible for working with their school or academic advisor to complete any required internship documentation and approval.
